Some glass bottle maker's marks include a date code, as well as a plant/factory code (Green 2015, Fig. 11). The dates can be either 1- or 2-digit numbers. For 1-digit numbers we usually have to use the factory code to determine what years the plant was active. 1/

Try-Me Beverages began in Sylacauga, Alabama, ca. 1924 & went out of business ca. 1956. The unusual 7 oz. & 10 oz. bottles were patented in April of 1924. The glass is usually clear with a slight green tint. I illustrated this 10 oz. that came into the Lab.

Bottle fragment "GROVES TASTELESS/CHILL TONIC PREPARED BY/PARIS MEDICINE CO./ST. LOUIS" found during a 2017 lake drawdown archaeological survey. Groves Tasteless Chill Tonic bottles date from ca. 1900-1934 (Fike 1987:234). Post-1934 it was named Grove Laboratories. 1/
