Some railway paths are hillier than others, and this was quite a climb.

In 1888, when the railway was in use, two runaway goods wagons tore down the hill. Unable to round the curve into the wharf, they flew over the canal and the double-track railway line, landing in a field.

We, though, made it safely to the top with our load of pasties and sandwiches.
