Sometimes (near every year), I touch the accessible for me LLMs to see how they able to perform their main task — operate with human-written text input to give me some valid output from their giant databases.

And looks like there are not a big progress  I queried two LLMs: Claude and the ChatGPT 4.x — trying to find one indie game. All that I remember: this game was made by a single Russian developer, the main plot depicts a retro-futuristic conflict somewhere in the Middle Asia, between a fiction empire, which looks like a Russian Empire and some powerful traitor, and gameplay contains flying diesel-punk ships, filled with machine-guns, rockets, atomic bombs, etc. And the game name starts from "H" letter.

Claude gave me a lot of irrelevant game titles. And a ChatGPT gave me …. "an error occurred (code 500)  

As a result, after spending near 10 minutes in the LLM chats I remembered the game name by myself — it was a "HighFleet". Another flawless victory of natural intelligence, lol

Strongly recommending the game #HighFleet.

I usually hate anything resembling a "bullet hell" game and sidescrollers aren't usually my preference, but this game is so singular and unique it needs to be experienced.

The premise is that you're in charge of a small fleet of gargantuan black-smoke-belching rocket-powered mountains of machines to run a guerilla war against a far superior force.

The graphics and sound design are superb, but the game itself is a masterclass on proper scoping. Everything that's included plays a vital part in making the game what it is and there's nothing extraneous.

The game is two-layer, much like XCOM. Half of it is frenetic dogfights between these massive rocket ships and the other half is a very challenging strategy/story layer about building your resistance.

Anyway, if you're a #gamedev and you want to see an example of an indie game done right, don't sleep on this one.

Half tempted to stream tonight. I fancy playing super immersive Dune/FTL crossover HighFleet.

It'll depend how my energy levels sustain themselves later, but yeah, let's put this on the cards for... 7 PM BST?

I've been checking out #highfleet the last couple nights.

I love the audio and visual effects of the ships blasting each other with a mix of cannons, or the swarm of tracers shooting down incoming missiles, my ship, on fire, escape pods ejecting.

Did I also mention I'm not very good at it yet? 😹
