#WordWeavers Jun1. Share your favorite fact about your story.

I actually became stuck on the sequel of #HeraldPetrel in a way that really put me down and in a bad place.

One evening about a week ago, when I was moping about all my concerns @QuokkaMocha suggested I could just try and tell another story in that universe, for example how Galahad was twenty years earlier, when he was studying at university. Only to come back into writing that universe, only for myself, just to find the joy in my own universe again. @floofpaldi chimed in on the conversation and after a late-night session we could see so many worthwhile story arcs, like Galahad coming to terms with his #greysexuality and how the friendship with Singh Khan developed, but also how much action-packed stuff could happen, that the next day I actually sat down and wrote the first chapter which includes an epic pilot ship crash and a gay kiss.

So, I decided to shelf #HeraldPetrel2 for a moment and write this story, first. I must admit feel much better about writing than I did in months. The story is now at just about 10K and at chapter 7, for now it is called "Galahad" and I will use it for this months WordWeavers. This post also answers tomorrow's prompt.

#PennedPossibilities 666 — Does your MC believe in a higher power? What about evil?

Siff doesn't believe in anything. Gods, Goddesses, afterlife, love, all are void concepts to her.

Lan believes in the Mother Goddess, the creator and nurturer of all things good and bad who has decided everything before it even happens. The only thing you are in control of is how honorable you live your life.

Hertaki is supposed to believe in the Mother Goddess like all other pack members. Only...she doesn't. But she believes in Wikei. To her, that fullfils all her spiritual (and other) needs.

All three believe in evil because they have seen it first hand. Evil will exist as long as any sentient species will exist because evil is born from conscious minds. For those who believe in the Mother Goddess, she also created evil. She has all of this decided. She knows.

Galahad is an agnostic. He isn't sure whether a higher power or evil does or does not exist.

#WordWeavers 10/5: Who is your most unpredictable character?

In #HeraldPetrel 1 I think it was Intan Lanny Kartawijaya, seventh daughter of Mubashir Bach’kok and Sanid Nair Kartawijaya and communication officer of the ship. In #HeraldPetrel2 we will be getting inside her head and that will probably make her a bit more predictable.
But there will be other unpredictable characters, especially since we get to know new ones and an insight into the cultures on Phtat'Grthak.

#WordWeavers May 2: Tell us something you liked about a recent passage you've written

I have developed a rather elaborate method for spacecrafts to land on a planet where every landing maneuver that takes too long and/or would require slowing down would result in the spacecraft being short down.

It is technically worldbuilding but since the reader doesn't know the system and what's happening, I liked that part a lot.

@Firlefanz You can ask me questions ANYTIME of course, but Yes, it is awesome to have a special day for it. 🙂

I have the most fun writing dialogue, especially bantering. I often snicker at witty comebacks or unexpected turns of a conversation that the other part didn't expect AT ALL. At the moment, in #HeraldPetrel2 I love when Siff and Raffi have a scene with each other, because when Raffi's squirrel brained stream-of-conscious way of talking meets Siff's straightforward way of thinking, the almighty, can-squash-a-squadron-without-blinking Commander suddenly is completely helpless and out of her depth.
A lot of my action and plot develops out of dialogue and my go-to when I am stuck is letting my characters talk to someone. It sometimes leads to a solution and an idea to carry on. Sometimes it just reveals something I didn't know. It doesn't necessarily make it into the story, though.

A lot of things make me happy. Good food and tea. Being on my own. Being with friends. A nice day in the sun. Immersing myself in music. Hitting a good streak in writing so I really get in the "flow". Basically, everything that lets me forget about reality makes me happy.

@gahlearner I prefer neither. It is kinda what the mood calls for. If there is a #fanfic idea that grabs me I HAVE to write it, same as when inspiration hits me for something original.

Same with the characters. The lines are drawn a bit different. There are characters I instantly feel, which I slip into like in a comfy coat and that need absolutely no effort to write, probably because their personalities are closer to mine or just because I have written them so long that they are a part of me. That's the case with Randall Brown and Lix Storm from #TheHour and with Galahad and Raffi on the #HeraldPetrel
Others need a bit more effort to feel myself inside their brains. The Doctor from #DoctorWho has such a long personal history and has been so many incarnations with different personalities that I need to incorporate that - and fans know much more about the lore so I have to tread careful. Both John Steed and Emma Peel from #TheAvengers are so far from my own personality that I first need to adapt to their thinking patterns to get them right.
For my own characters, Siff has such an interesting brain and I learn more and more about her since I write her POV in #HeraldPetrel2 same as Intan Lanny Kartawijaya and Sarge Hertaki. But yes, all very far from myself so, need more effort to "see" what they are doing.

I can say that some characters are closer to my heart but there is no difference between them being created by another person or by myself.

#PennedPossibilities 654 — How would your SC introduce themselves?

Problem with bot Sarge Hertaki and Gengra Wikei is that you probably won't survive the introduction. They have to get better at it, though, since they are given the task to catch somebody ALIVE. For two dyed-in-the-wool waylayers from Phtat'Grthak that is quite a challenge...

#WordWeavers 26. Does your MC have good or bad luck?

Siff doesn't believe in luck, just skills and being able to handle every situation life throws at her.

Others would say she had a really terrible streak of bad luck, managed to get out of it, then again had bad luck but good luck in #HeraldPetrel too. In #HeraldPetrel2, though, things get difficult again.

#PennedPossibilities 648 MC POV: Tell us about your home.

Siff: "No."
