@oddtail years ago I read a "helpful hint" that boiled down to: form a sensible association between (a) the person's name and (b) the situation in which you met. A word-association-thing to ensure that you will you remember the name.
I tried it, once, at parties. At the second party, I clearly and correctly remembered the person's name:
Fridge Face.
Yes, that's it. You were standing in front of a tall fridge when we met, and chatted. You are Fridge Face.

This makes little sense to me, but it works. A little hydrogen peroxide in the water inside a humidifier keeps it from getting slimy. I tried it because why not? And sure enough, bingo no more slime.
