Mannagh Sinks Hawks on Easter Monday | AFANA

A record crowd of 88,746 fans in attendance for this fixture final match of the round on Easter Monday at the MCG. Conditions were good for footy with a light breeze and overcast conditions. Sean Mannagh was the first to score, tackling D'Ambrosio fifteen meters out from goal and converting the free kick into a goal and Dempsey backed up a minute later with Geelong's second after marking in the pocket. Hardwick was the first to score for the Hawks, seven points in fact, a behind and then a mark and goal deep in the forward pocket snapping around the body. As the Cats did earlier, the Hawks kicked their second quickly when Gunston marked twenty meters out straight in front and he too kicked truly.  Geelong, on the turnover and counterattack worked the ball long to Dangerfield on his own in the forward pocket and he played on to kick his first goal of the day. Both sides drove the ball into their forward line promisingly, only to be undone by good defense and poor kicking resulting in a number of behinds, before Stanley was able to win the contested mark just fifteen meters out and although he looked a bit nervous about the shot, kicked solidly for Geelong's fourth goal and that saw the Cats take an eleven point lead into quarter-time.
