Houston is likely to see wall-to-wall sunshine for the next week thanks to high pressure and sinking air. Just how hot are temperatures going to get this weekend? ☀️

A very strong ridge of high pressure is establishing itself across the western United States. Here’s what that means for Houston’s weather across the next 10 days.
Temperatures this morning are within a few degrees of record lows for the greater Houston area, with some rural areas seeing a light freeze. Most of the city has remained just above freezing, however. Today we’ll begin a warming trend that won’t end for some time.

We look at windy conditions overnight, in which much of the region saw gusts of 45 to 55 mph. Houston has chilly conditions this morning, and we’ll only warm up a little bit. Temperatures tonight will get into the 30s for much of the area, but stay above freezing.
We interrupt your Sunday morning with an updated forecast for the arrival of a strong cold front this evening. Not much has changed since our forecast on Friday, but we want people to be aware of what’s coming.

A spectacular Friday and a winner of a Saturday will close out Houston’s spring break week nicely. Sunday brings a powerful cold front with a pinch of rain and potent winds in the evening and overnight. Much colder weather will drop temperatures to the 40s Monday morning. Things then calm down.
Breezy conditions will lead to a chilly night in Houston. Also, after days of clouds we are likely to see sunshine prevail for a while. After a warm-up this weekend, expect an even sharper cold front early next week that may return temperatures to the 30s briefly.
Houston will see fairly widespread showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, some severe. Tonight very breezy conditions arrive as a cold front blows in to cool us down for the rest of the week.
We put the very, very warm temperatures across the Houston region this morning into context. We also look ahead to the potential for storms with a front on Wednesday, with cooler and drier air to follow.
