I'm not sure I could (or would want to) make a conference talk out of this, but cleaning up captions for #HEWeb23 presentations has been an eye-opening experience.

I'm assuming that a run-on paragraph is more comprehensible spoken than read, but maybe not? I imagine there's literature on the subject...

This year I volunteered to clean up captions for video recordings of #HEWeb23. Speaking strictly as an amateur who's doing this for the first time, I think I could roll up a lightning talk of things presenters could do better when speaking (don't use jargon, explain less well known acronyms, finish sentences instead of changing course mid-stream).
Started poking at #Nix during #HEWeb23 courtesy of @woodwardjd, and I've used it to simplify my blogging workflow: https://blog.goodbyeplease.com/2023/10/22/This-blog-post-was-written-with-Hexo-and-Nix/
This blog post was written with Hexo and Nix

A few weeks ago I was at HighEdWeb 2023 in Buffalo and caught a talk (“Maybe some other time Docker: Fast, declarative and reproducible developer environments using Nix“) from Jason Woodward about Nix

Goodbye Please
My shirt finally came. A little late for the conference but I did order at the last minute. #HEWeb23
Back from #HEWeb23 and wanting to do all the new and shiny things. But first ... work.
Last night in Buffalo this time. Beautiful sky, even if it is a bit ominous. #HEWeb23
I think we're going to head towards Pour Taproom around 6:30 and grab dinner there before trivia. If anyone wants to join us for dinner, you're more than welcome. If anyone wants to join us for trivia, just try to be at Pour before 7:30. #HEWeb23

I wandered into #HEWeb23, but due to poor schedule reading on my part missed Mark Greenfield’s talk.

I did grab a mini cocktail shaker.

Had a few quick hallway convos and wow was I surprised that Pantheon came up in most of them. People are aware of their deal.
