I took this at the New Dora Observatory, along the DMZ in South Korea. The original Dora Observatory, which this one replaces, was just a few yards from the bus. They asked us not to photograph it because it is part of an active military installation. The line you can see going through the image is the South Korean side of the DMZ.

This is the Comfort Woman Memorial at Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park. The empty chair represents the women who have since died. There are two memorials because one is intended to be in the north in the future.

This is the "Bridge of Freedom." It crosses a lake at Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park. Initially, the Bridge had two spans that headed up and down, but they were destroyed by bombing, and only the pier remained. Later, the west Bridge was restored to exchange prisoners of war, and a temporary bridge was installed at the south end. 13,000 POWs were exchanged on it.

I took this at the Majang Reservoir when I visited the demilitarized zone. There is a suspension bridge over the reservoir and a lovely set of walking trails around it.
