I made this mallet a while ago, but I recently broke it so I had to make it a new handle. This is it's third (!!), but the head hasn't split yet so I'm still calling it a win. Head is sugar maple--the color is from metal oxides in the soil getting pulled into the wood fibers during the life of the tree. Handle is salvaged red oak. #theWorkshop #woodworking #greenwoodworking

I really like this kind of simpler spoonrack and thought it was time carve one. The back is carved like a sliding dovetail that holds shelf.
