#WordWeavers JAN-3 MC POV: Are you a fan of anything?

Her world is so small with her routine of training, patrol, there's not a lot to be a fan of with her people in a centuries long exile in what is a small part of another world.

She's a fan of sleep. That's what she's a fan of, being warm and cosy.

#PennedPossibilities 158: How has the loss of fallen comrades and/or loved ones affected your MC or SC? Has it taught them anything or given them any new perspectives?

While it's been a fact of life in the forest, my MC has found having to kill her own mentor devastating.

It's making her dread her own hibernation and possible transition to an awoken. She doesn't want anyone she trained to have to take her down.

#WordWeavers 8 - What are the most important changes your MCs undergo during the story?

Learning that the Status quo must change. Although my MC literally needs to let go and hibernate. To accept both the physical and relationship changes that will happen to her and her family.

Learning to trust others with your duties before it gets handed over haphazardly.

#PennedPossibilities 152 — MC or SC POV: Describe the work that you do.

We go into the forest, either to protect our woodsmen or we go to Maithan's gate to find any newcomers who seek shelter from persecution. We are sanctuary, but there's a blood price to be paid.

We protect them from our lands main defenders. The awoken.

They were our leaders once. They slept and awoke. They protect us from invaders, but our folks are as vulnerable to the awoken as the Invaders are.

#WordWeavers 3: What does your antagonist always have with them?

Nothing. Aside from the rags she wears and the occasional warm piece of clothing she steals from her victims.

#GlassCoffin

In the Forest? An axe, human weapons help her to remember she's still a human for now.

At the steading? A warm woollen cardigan that was her mother's. It's been heavily mended over years, but it's soft with wear.

Softness and warmth reminds her of her humanity as well.

Oops misread that, that was my protagonist.

#PennedPossibilities continued,

I want her to hope for more. To find things to strive for to aim for. To have aims for herself. To have hopes for herself.

But she's got a whole lot of strife to get there first.

She would have to be prepared to leave duty, family and her land behind.

If she does achieve that, then I'd be proud.

It's no easy thing to do sometimes, especially when you've defined yourself in service to others.

#PennedPossibilities 151
Are you proud of your MC? Have they accomplished anything worthy of that pride and satisfaction?

I don't know if I'd say proud. I'd say she's doing the best she can with what she has. But given the fact that her purpose is to protect her people from others who were like her once, she's doing well.

She doesn't have the time or the space to imagine goals or accomplishments. She is defined by what she is and her circumstances. She doesn't hope for more.

#pennedpossibilities 146 — MC or SC POV: What does your future hold?

No future, it's a long sleep in the forest and probably peeling men out of their armour and eating them.

She's not looking forward to losing herself.

#pennedpossibilities 145 — does your SC have a romantic partner?

It tends to be complicated with my MCs team. Because to be selected to hunt out in the forest your family either sacrificed you near birth, or you are not like the rest of the population.

One of the duties of my MC pre hibernation is detecting those folk in a ceremony every child attends at 11. For those selected, their families are compensated.

Bonds tend to form in group. It's complicated.
