Every Sunday I look back at the preceding week in kpop and pick out the music video or performance I liked best. This week I have chosen tripleS LOVElution -- Girls' Capitalism.
I was a fan of the Loona project when it was associated with Jaden Jeong, but I haven’t followed his new enterprise, TripleS, so closely. I was put off not just by the complexity of the group structure but also by the use of NFTs as a promotional tool.
However, I did like "Generation", so I was pleased to hear something of the same sound in "Girls' Capitalism". A lot of fans were impressed by the MV – one Redditor made sense of it with the help of lengthy quotes from Marx’s 1849 “Wage Labour and Capital” – but I liked seeing the choreography and the more abstract, formal beauty offered by a suit dance.
