So, apparently, the reason why parts of Berlin were without power for 4 days was, that they needed an Austrian company to come over to fix it. And for several reasons, they weren't called until Monday and thus arrived only Monday evening.

I wonder why the utility company doesn't have their own people or a local company that can fix their cables if there is a need?

@jon You know, the Bregenz-Munich line should have been electrified 30 years ago. There are even treaties with Austria and Switzerland about it. It was even included again in the treaties about traffic going through the Alps in Switzerland that ultimately was the basis for NEAT. NEAT has been finished 10 years ago but Germany hasn't even started building their parts of the treaty. Even though they have received the money to build it by Switzerland decades ago.

My City sends me a letter to inform me that my national ID card has expired. Pretty nice of them.

Except it expired over two years ago.
