Four years ago, at the beginning of lockdown in the UK, someone (not here, or I would credit her) suggested reading one of #GeorgetteHeyer 's romantic comedies as a distraction, and the #GeorgetteHeyerReadalong was born. It ran on Twitter for two years, as close as I can remember, and because of it, I met a whole host of funny, feisty people. Their book recommendations are much better than average, their conversations veer from serious to surreal, and their unstinting support for one another is something I've never previously experienced outside my immediate family.

Omg The Dark is Rising on @bbcsounds is absolutely brilliant. I note it was adapted by Robert Macfarlane. It was his Readalong of The Dark is Rising on the bird site that introduced me to the concept of readalongs in that medium and led me to the #GeorgetteHeyerReadalong which was what saved my soul during lockdown. I’d go for Cotillion. My absolute favourite of them all - my copy is falling to bits from regular re-reads over 45 years. Thought I knew it inside out but the #GeorgetteHeyerReadalong gave me lots of great insights.
Absolutely delighted when my husband said he’d found #DowagersAssemble here. There must still be Heyer novels to discuss
