The German government says it’s lifting restrictions on exports of military equipment to Israel

The German government is lifting its restrictions on military exports to Israel. This decision comes weeks after a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced in early August that Berlin would halt exports that could be used in Gaza. This was in response to Israel's decision to take over Gaza City. Merz’s spokesperson, Stefan Kornelius, said Monday that the restrictions will be lifted from Nov. 24. He cited the stabilized ceasefire and efforts to increase humanitarian aid in Gaza. Germany will now assess military exports on a case-by-case basis.
