I am currently writing the tests to move from the rank of Student to Initiate in Toutâ Galation. The following is adapted from an answer I prepared for this test. I first briefly wrote about this ritual on this very blog in September 2021: “Orchardcraft.”

One of my favourite autumn rituals is the following, which I’ve done nearly every year since 2021 in the fall, right before apple picking at an orchard on a small mountain outside my city. This ritual asks for Abellion’s favour.

Petitioning Abellion For His Favour at the Apple Orchard

A lovely copper-gilt wooden statue of #Epona that was recovered from the depths of a well.

I normally would not stoop to mentioning such a disreputable person as J.K. #Rowling, but unfortunately she seems to be invoking the names of #Gaulish Gods now, as part of her fanatical bigot campaign:

#HogwartsLegacy has reportedly introduced a trans woman character named #Sirona Ryan.

This stela of an unusually muscular #Mercury from #Lugdunum is a great example of the Mercurius #Gebrinius icon, where He rests His bag of money on the head of a ram.

This piqued my interest especially because the only inscriptions we have to #Gebrinios that I know of are from Germania, much further Northeast.

If only the inscription on this stela had survived like the icon did...

"To the Goddess Exomna, Aunius Vitalis willingly fulfilled his vow, as deserved."

This #votive from #GermaniaInferior is to #Exomna, a Goddess with a #Celtic #theonym meaning 'Fearless'. A masculine form of this same epithet was also applied to Mars #Lenos as "Exobinnos".

I was going through some old poetry and remembered this poem I wrote for Đirona last March, which I share again here:

Đirona's Crown

I spent hours watching the fresh-watered waves
collide against the earth; thunder brewing at the tip top of
the pines, glorious skies that unfurl out and deep into the west;
the wind carrying sweet-water spray onto the land where I stand
in the shadows of the trees, waiting for the first celestial bodies
to rise behind me from the east. Đirona, most beloved star,
crown of the heavens, watching the gulls dancing over the last rays
of sun cresting the waves, a drum, a soft pitter-patter of pine needles
brushing against each other; we contain in all of us these rocky
shores, these watery edges; as the water becomes wine-dark like the
black roses my grandmother grew along the stone steps up to her house,
I reach the dark silhouette of my hand to the sky, and behind it
all the light of the stars gleam as they shower down, meeting
their mirror images reflected by the troubled horizon.

@lannan I see a couple new Gauloises just joined up, so that's cool... #GaulishPolytheism

A post from last year, but sharing again because I want to motivate myself to get back to these notes and add more:

"A few notes on the theorized original characteristics of the Gaulish religion(s)"

"I’ve been slowly making my way through Les religions gauloises by Jean-Louis Brunaux over the past several months. I really loved reading Les druides, which I had to return to the national library but am hoping to pick back up again soon. Les religions gauloises similarly does not disappoint."

*U̯oscātos - overshadow or mask. Had this commissioned through @emilemilsmanufactory. Excellent craftsmanship. It’s a general ritual mask that’ll I’ll be using. Design inspiration base is a toad/frog. Design elements are inspired by La Tene and Halstatt era elements. #gaulishpolytheist #gaulishpolytheism #pagan #paganism #celticpagan #celticpolytheism #polytheism #heathen #heathenadjacent
@khthoniaa Cathubodua is a Gaulish Celtic war goddess who was almost lost to history because her name is only documented from a single altar inscription. We only know about her because of one Gallo-Roman woman’s devotional vow. She had her name inscribed in the altar recording the fulfillment of the vow; her name was Servilia Terentia and if not for her, Cathubodua might have no worship today.
