In the village of Barshi (Etseri municipality, Upper Svaneti, Georgia, Caucasus), situated at an altitude of over 1,600 metres, stands what is believed to be the tallest defensive and residential tower (koshki) in Svaneti. The village was the seat of the regional Svan noble family, the Dadeshkeliani, who ruled over part of Upper Svaneti.
Apart from the koshki, only a few walls of the Dadeshkelianis’ former castle remain.
