Absolutely ridiculous. The SEC holds companies accountable for the third-parties and contractors that work for them, to adhere to their rules and statutes (at least hypothetically, if not in practice).

Why would we treat corporations that use third-party companies to utilize child labor any differently?!

It was only a matter of time before #AcademicTwitter & #ResearchGate descended with its academic private clubs onto the elephant site. How snobby does one need to be in order to start excluding unpublished scientists from Fediscience (which presumably stands for "Federated Science"?) on the basis of wanting a repercussion-free space to discuss ideas.   🤡 🤪 .
