I've been saving these pictures from Patten Stream for #FridayFerns! The boulders attract lichens and then mosses, which catch bits of leaves and other organic matter that ferns and grasses can grow in. There are a lot of boulders around here called "Fern Rock". But some ferns prefer the ground, thank you very much!
