A Stone in the RiverA Quickie
So many things swirling in my head as the day wanes and there remains much to do. So this will be short today.
There are still flowers blooming in the garden. And on our way to meet a friend for breakfast this morning I saw roses, sweet alyssum, and black-eyed Susans blooming as though it were the middle of summer.
I’m remembering to find joy each day. Some highlights.
I saw a man walking his teeny tiny dog downtown and they were wearing matching jackets.
Thursday morning, the full moon, did y’all see it? I was so tired and blah and wishing I could stay home and curl up with a book and a second cup of coffee, but away I went to work into the dark on my bike. A few blocks away I pedaled past one of my neighborhood lakes and there was the fat full moon with a coppery yellow tinge to her, above the trees across the lake. From the lake rose a thin mist, and across the water shone the light of the moon. I felt the joy rushing in and washing away my fatigue. I slowed down so I could enjoy the moon longer. And I called out greetings and gratitude to her before I left the lakeside and lost sight of her. She buoyed me all the way to work and throughout my day.
