#MorrisFullerBenton (November 30, 1872 – June 30, 1948) was an American #typefaceDesigner who headed the design department of the #AmericanTypeFounders (ATF), for which he was the chief type designer from 1900 to 1937. Many of Benton's designs, such as his large family of related #sansserif or "gothic" #typefaces, including #AlternateGothic, #FranklinGothic, and #NewsGothic, are still in everyday use.

This talk by @nicksherman about Franklin Gothic typeface, its history and its legacy, is awesome. I learned many things, and it clarified some others I wasn't sure of.
