“Did you know the oldest burger place in Wisconsin is Pete's Hamburger Stand in Prairie du Chein? It’s now open for its 115th year.
In 1909, Pete Gokey opened an umbrella-sheltered mobile lunch cart he called the “Clean Lunch Stand.” From the beginning, the cart served fresh hamburgers and little else. A fixed-location booth was constructed on Blackhawk Avenue in 1955.” - Wisconsin Historical Society
