Not five minutes later I got an email back from the principal. He commiserated and said that this is an automated system (Seymour's doing, I'm sure) and that the meeting requirement was waived.
He's a good bloke and I am bitter that he and all principals have been put in this position.
He said it was fundamentally caused by too many cars with low vehicle occupancy trying to use too little road space at the same time.
