My first computer was a used TI 99/4a with a tape drive. I faithfully typed out all the code for 'hunt the wumpus' from a book and ran out of memory on it.
My second was a loaner, a Commodore 64, loaned to me by my grade 6 teacher because she saw my interest and capacity to make use of it for the year.
I was thoroughly invested in learning to make my own software on both.

I still have the 99/4A in a box.
