During the #FirstMatabeleWar in modern-day #Zimbabwe, warriors of #Ndebele kingdom ambushed the #ShanganiPatrol (aka #WilsonsPatrol) on #ThisDayInHistory in 1893. All but three of 37 #British troops were killed. The war was later lost, though, at cost of 15,000 African warriors.
