Thanks #FindoutCrew for making social media social again โœŠ

@Miriam_R

Hey Miriam, I'm one of the team who helped build the app ๐Ÿ˜Š

Local posts are posts which only other #FindOutCrew can see.

Public posts mean that anyone can see and interact with your posts if they're on a connected social platform such as Bluesky, Mastodon, or Threads. This network is known as the Social Web ๐ŸŒŒ

Welcome #FindOutCrew

It is so inspiring seeing your community taking shape here in this corner of the Fediverse. Below are some tips that might be helpful.

One important thing... There is no algorithm here, so your feed will not automatically fill up with stuff the billionaires want you to see.

In fact, it will be kind of dead, until you jump start it by Following people. Make an effort to Follow at least fifty people and you will be amazed.

Good morning folks and welcome to all the new people joining the amazing #FindOutCrew

We are a small, but mighty team trying to take on the billionaires by bringing social back to what it should be. A place to communicate and highlight the work you are doing.

We are doing this with barely any funding. Mostly just our team handling many projects at once.

Be sure to tell your friends and encourage them to join!

#FindoutCrew - why we need to build our own new space on the open social web:

โ€œOn X since 2020 engagement saw a "72% shift to the right, which is just insane."

And humans posting on X & FB "dropped by 50%" with huge "botification of those platforms"

RIP social media. What comes next is messy.

As social media splinters, how can we keep the new online spaces from devolving into toxic pits of despair?

Why this is important: For public social media to realize it's potential as a counterbalance to corporate social media we need to provide an effective means of assimilating other communities who choose to set up shop here. With no algorithm, discoverability here is more difficult. The tools at our disposal are Follows, Boosts and Replies. So if you have a little time today, take a few minutes to reach out to our new #FindOutCrew friends.
