Africa cannot afford to build its future on fossil-funded banks. The African Energy Bank, financed by oil and gas interests, is not the answer.
If we are serious about a just transition, then public finance must lead the wayfinancing renewable energy, community resilience, and technological transfer. Private finance will always chase profit, but public finance should chase justice.
