In need of a #FieldRecorder for reasons. I would like the TASCAM Portacapture X8. I don't need 8 channels, but the X6 doesn't have combo jacks for some weird reason. The X8 is way out of the current budget, at $400 USD.

Have to settle for the DR-40X (4 ch. 24-bit/96 KHz), which is, at $180, less than half the price, only $60 more than the cheapest DR-05XP (2 ch. 32-bit FP/96 KHz, but no combo jacks).

The DR-40X is effectively obsolete now, but it has 2 combo jacks, good enough for now.
