It has been nearly two weeks since the World Chess Championship challengers were determined at the Candidates tournament in Cyprus. But what path did 🇮🇳 Vaishali Rameshbabu and 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov take on their path to qualifying?

🇳🇱 Anish Giri's second place score in the open (+3) would have been enough to win the event in the women's section.

Heartbreaking that Anish Giri wasn't able to beat Wei Yi today to keep at least some pressure on Javokhir Sindarov going into the last two rounds of the candidates tournament. It was never easy, but it was especially unfortunate that he made an accidental threefold repetition in a position where he could have pressed for much longer.

Vaishali Rameshbabu 🇮🇳 is now in the sole lead and in position to vie for the Women's World Chess Championship title! Amazing what she has achieved so far. It is still tense as there are two players just half a point behind.
