Sinn Fein now saying that they won't re-run the family and care referenda, despite previous promises. What a bunch of populist twats; their policies just blow in the wind.

@ciaranmak If the Irish constitution language doesn't change with this referendum, the unions should argue that it's a woman's right to work remotely from their residence

2024 - Ireland votes

People will have many opportunities to vote in 2024. 8 March - a referendum on changing the constitutional definition of the family and a referendum on removing a thing in the constitution about a woman's place being in the home and replacing it with a new provision about how the state should help family members care for each other [both of these referendums were defeated] On a date to be decided but probably Friday 7 June: - elections to local authorities - elections to the European Parliament A general election to Dáil Éireann may take place in 2024 (but could also be held back until early 2025).

Excellent article on the 2 referenda:

Care: "As with the previous article, the obligation placed on the State is weak [...however it is ...] a symbolic acknowledgement that we lead relational lives in which we are cared for and care for others within a broad range of familial settings. Stating this clearly in the Constitution signals that people are valued for who they are and not only as economic producers and consumers."

I think a lot of civic society groups jumped the gun by supporting yes/yes.
