#gardening report: Yes, the dirt road to the allotment is full of frozen puddles, and the ground is only partially thawed, but under the row covers there is nothing frozen. The lunchtime salad bar will be open for another day or two. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #FallGardening #share
#gardening report: probably the last trip to the allotment for 2024. Gave the garlics a nice blanket of leaf mulch. Cut down the remaining kale, collards, brussels sprouts. Said goodnight to the spinaches and arugulas under row covers. Brought home the rain guage and watering can. #FallGardening #garlics #LeafMulch #RowCovers
Sorta a #gardening report: I've finally been home enough to clean out the herb and flower raised beds in front of the house. Put in some fall decorative things that I hope will last into Dec. Attached are the before and after looks. #FallGardening #RaisedBeds #FallDecorations
#gardening report: It is colder at the allotment than at my house. Frost on everything, ground beginning to freeze, making it difficult to pull stakes and get under row covers. Still got nice harvest of kale, lettuce, arugula, spinach. Hauled another 8 gal of water over and watered the recently planted garlics. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #FallGardening

It's Saturday, and I've been waiting for it to warm up before heading outside - It's 3.4ยฐC right now. But the sun is shining, so I gotta use the good weather and continue cutting down perennials. This Friday is the last yard waste pickup for 2024, which gives me a deadline. Otherwise, I'm hauling yard bags to the recycling centre in our small SUV.
Put on my earbuds, crank some tunes, and let's go.

These pictures could have been taken in August - they were taken this morning. It's been so mild in NE England. The only clue to it being November is that the roses are the same plant - Claire Austin takes on a pink tinge late in the season. Pink one's at the top (exposed), the usual cream is sheltered. Nasturtiums blooming in the high pressure gloom we've had for 3 weeks!

#gardening report: it's been so very dry here. Water at the allotment has been off for 2 weeks. I hauled 8 gal of water over today, and that helped, but barely made a dent. Got this nice harvest of leeks, broccoli, arugula, parsley, and kale. Still in the ground are some carrots and leeks. Doing well under unnecessary row covers are arugulas, spinaches, red and green lettuces. More broccoli and collards and kale to harvest. Doubtful the brussels sprouts will produce - probably started too late. Oh, soil temp is a balmy 55ยฐ F, so not planting garlics yet. #good #GrowFoodFromSeeds #FallGardening.
#gardening report: finished row covers for lettuces, arugulas, spinaches. Maybe 1/2 of the cleanup work is done. Beds are ready for garlics, but that's for another week. Interesting that the zinnias have died back while at home they're still productive. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #FallGardening #RowCovers
