Instead of partisan redistricting, the Fair Representation Act would require house members to be elected by #RankedChoiceVoting in multi-member districts. That will make gerrymandering impossible, make every election competitive and make the House much more socially and politically diverse. As embarrassing as this #House #Speaker debacle may be for Republicans, it is nice that they recognize that a body shouldn't choose its single leader by plurality vote, or else they'd be unable to vote for R alternatives to #KevinMcCarthy without wasting their votes and electing Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker.

They should put that conviction into practice and pass the #FairRepresentationAct to make #InstantRunoffVoting a reality for the election of their members, too.
