This Intel Panther Lake mini PC is as thin as a laptop

PC makers have been using laptop-class processors for mini PCs for decades. But since mini PCs are usually taller than laptops and don’t need built-in batteries, there’s usually room for more ports and enhanced cooling, among other things.

But Chinese PC maker FEVM is preparing to launch a mini PC that’s as thin as a laptop, while packing powerful features including an Intel Panther Lake […]

This mini PC packs an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip into a chassis that’s less than 1.4 inches thick

Earlier this year Chinese PC maker FEVM introduced the FA-EX9 mini PC which stuffed an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo processor into a compact computer with an internal volume of about 2 liters and measures less than 2.2 inches thick. Now the company is going even smaller.

The new FEVM FA-EX1 is a 1-liter PC that measures less than 1.4 inches thick, but it has many of the same features as […]

FEVM FA-EX9 mini PC with AMD Strix Halo coming soon

Chinese mini PC maker FEVM has a habit of cramming high-performance hardware into compact designs. Last year the company introduced a Mac Studio clone with up to an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor and NVIDIA RTX 4090M graphics. And now FEVM is preparing to launch a mini PC with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo processor.

FN60G WE is Mac Studio-like mini PC with up to NVIDIA RTX 4090M and Intel Core i9-14900KF

The FEVM FN60G is a small desktop computer that looks a lot like a Mac Studio. But it’s designed for Windows (or other operating systems) and it’s a lot easier to customize or upgrade than a Mac Studio.

When the FN60G launched in China late last year (and went on sale worldwide earlier this year), it was available with up to an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600M discrete GPU. Now FEVM has launched a new model called the FN60G WE with an updated design and support for up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090M graphics.

While the system isn’t yet available in the United States, a listing on Chinese retail site Taobao gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect.

The new model features a compact 3.8 liter chassis that measures 168 x 168 x 137mm (6.6″ x 6.6″ x 5.4″), making it a little larger than the original (168 x 168 x 92mm or 6.6″ x 6.6″ x 3.6″). But the extra space means there’s room inside the chassis for a higher performance cooling system that includes independent fans for the RAM and storage, as well as a Thermalright AIO water cooler GPU cooler, and a large fan to keep everything running at optimal temperatures.

Also inside the computer’s metal case you’ll find two SODIMM slots for up to a total of 96GB of DDR5-5200 memory, two M.2 2280 slots with support for PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage, and an LGA1700 socket for 12th, 13th, and 14th-gen Intel Core processors.

FEVM says the system supports CPUs with up to a 125 TDP and GPUs with up to 115 TGB for up to 240 watts of total power.

There’s also an M.2 2230 slot for a wireless card.

Port include:

  • 2 x HDMI (4K/60Hz)
  • 2 x DisplayPort (8K/60Hz)
  • 1 x USB Type-C (with 8K/60Hz DisplayPort Alt Mode and 15W USB Power Delivery)
  • 1 x USB Type-C (unspecified)
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
  • 3 x USB 2.0 Type-A (480 Mbps)
  • 2 x 2.5 Gb Ethernet
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio
  • 1 x SD card reader
  • 1 x DC power input (20V)

There’s no word on if or when this little computer will be available outside of China, but if you want to see the system in action and don’t mind watching a Chinese video with English subtitles, one popped up on YouTube a few weeks ago.
