Talked to a friend I've known for 35 years. He says he's not rich, but when his landlord tried to evict him during Covid, he bought the house.

Anyway I said it'll be impossible to maintain a high tech society in a low-carbon world without abandoning the unsustainable capitalist dream of "line go up" increased profits every quarter.

He looked at me funny and said "Who are you, and when did you become a communist?"
