This is the origin of my obsession with the F-16 Viper. No pun intended.
This was one of the games my dad bought. I'm not sure when he bought it, but it came out in 1993. I distinctly remember him complaining didn't work properly because moving the stick to the side made the plane roll instead of yaw like it did in Wing Commander 2. And I thought to myself "I'll give it a go and just work around that" and figured out how to bank an airplane as a result.
The manual is from that golden age of games when manuals were written in-universe, so it's actually the July 2011 issue of SUDDEN DEATH magazine (Volume 12, Number 9, 12.00 Turkish Lira/$4.50 USD/£2.50) covering the exploits of the Wildcats mercenary squadron ("Include Strike Commander Technical Manual"). Fantastic stuff.
I've got a very strong urge to go through it and do a write-up of all the things I now know are inaccurate, though I still love it.
