At the #London #NaturalHistoryMuseum today & found a real #Mastodon

This specimen was discovered in Missouri. Originally it was assembled incorrectly to exaggerate its size & displayed in a travelling show. It was acquired by #RichardOwen for the museum, reassembled & remains in a similar configuration today. Nuts & bolts for the armature infrastructure on display
