Decided to try an external antenna in the car with the AT-D878UVII PLUS walkie-talkie. Need quick install/removal so put BNC adapters at the radio and external antenna connector (from SMA to BNC). Found there is an irritating gap at the reverse-SMA to BNC adapter at the radio side. Looked in the plumbing supplies box in the garage and found a box of flat rubber washers. Drilled the center hole a-bit larger and very pleased with the outcome. Much better!
