Trillions? The actual figure for the whole of this administration is around 100 billion - and that's including tariffs, customs / duty, and excise taxes that existed pre-tantrum.

He's mad judges have correctly ruled that his (limited) authority to levy tariffs in an emergency doesn't just let him do anything and everything he wants, forever.

My take on #Dutton's #excise cuts. (Granted, my #economics is rusty.)

#Fuel's generally price inelastic, i.e., cutting excise won't do much to affect consumption. And taxpayers would *lose* 25¢/L in government spending on other services to *save* 25¢/L at the pump. (Taxpayers and fuel consumers aren't precisely identical groups, but bear with me.)

IF the sort of friendship that the "Tangerine Palpatine" expects us to just accept, I.E. being that we take a %25 hit on Steel and Aluminum, then all those free loading Corporations that pay next to no tax here in Australia should now have a slick new 'Orange Wealth Mobility' exit fee of about oh, I dunno' maybe $25 in the 100 for all profit that demonstrably goes off shore, for all companies here that are headquartered in the US . . starting with Tesla.
