The EMS Distinguished Lecturer is a prestigious annual title of the European Mathematical Society, created to replace the former EMS Lecturer and EMS Distinguished Speaker roles.

Prof. Volker Mehrmann of TU Berlin will serve as the EMS Distinguished Lecturer of 2026, with a lecture at the FoCM 2026 conference. The EMS encourages organisers of suitable events in 2026 to consider inviting him for further lectures across Europe.

It is also time to start preparing nominations for the EMS Distinguished Lecturer 2027.
