Now that the urgency to resist this authoritarian detour from democracy has lessened, I've been trying to reacquaint myself with some of my hobbies. It has been a slow process though. A 7-year hiatus is a long interruption to rebound from, and I literally had forgotten how to perform many tasks.
I'm glad to report that I no longer have to sit and stare off into space trying to remember how to function in the kitchen. During the time of my emersion into hyper-resistance, what I call the Trumpocalypse, a new trend in cooking took off, the art and simplicity of sheet pan cooking.
My first adventure with it was for Mardi Gras. Our sheet pan Jambalaya was fantastic. Now we do a sheet pan supper once a week. The Cinco de Mayo steak fajitas really set the tone on May 5.
