Assuming it's time to leave the USA, what options are there for émigrés? Specifically, countries with really strong free speech protection? Obviously the UK is out.

TIL: That both Slovakia and the Czech Republic have "jus sanguinis" (birth by blood). My grandmother was a Czechoslovakian immigrant at a young age, which means I am eligible to apply for dual citizenship.

I need to determine which side of the line she was on after Czechoslovakia split into two countries.

Any recommendations on how to do that without a paid service?
