Went to the National Cemetery of the Pacific today. Had some extra flowers since my sister had apparently visited our relatives gravesites earlier in the day, so I left my extra flowers at the grave of Ellison Onizuka #EllisonOnizuka who was an astronaut from the Big Island who died with six other crew on the tragic Challenger crash on January 28, 1986. I was surprised to find he was buried here a while ago, and wanted to honor him along with my veteran father and uncles.

I haven't seen much remembering the Challenger space shuttle disaster, which took place 37 years ago today/yesterday (depending on where you are in the world) and resulted in the deaths of the seven astronauts onboard. There's some evidence that the tragedy could have been avoided.
