Okay, I think this is the final design I will do around this idea. I think I prefer the saga version that you can just straight cast. But I thought the idea of a story leading up to the event would be cool.

The name Harald is a play on Herald. My first idea for him, was that he was a warrior that would bring about the end of the world. Then my mind shifted based on a joke someone made, and he became a bureaucrat.

Inspired by things like the "The Book of Brothers" from #ASongOfFireAndIce and its ilk.

I went through a few designs before I ended up here. At first, I was just returning the exiled creature to play under your control. But I felt that it didn't capture the idea of heroes having been forgotten.

I ended up liking the idea of a token copy with a kind of generic name, removing the creature's identity.

Okay, first things first. I know that this is a very silly idea. There are surely cleaner ways to accomplish the same goal.

But I thought that this was a fun way idea for a card. I like keywords that can stack, Exalted, Prowess

The idea behind Echo is that by stealing your voice, she steals your magic.

I sometimes like narrow "removal" like effects, the creature can still attack and block, but any it loses the things that, presumably, make the creature special.

It is possible that she should say "creature an opponent controls" but I kind of like that you can use her to remove downsides from your own creatures.

Inspired by an idea I saw on the LRR discord. I liked the idea of a factory building a construct from the constituent parts.

A CPU, an energy source and the body. Each part has a function of its own.
- The CPU does the thinking, hence scrying.
- The energy source provides power, in the form of two colourless mana.
- The body can function as a power suit.

I wanted to capture the moment of capture the idea of a character becoming a planeswalker.

So an enchantment that makes a legendary creature into a planeswalker and gives them some loyalty abilities.
I thought about making it so that it could only enchant a white legendary creature since the loyalty abilities are very much in white's part of the colour pie, but while more flavourful I didn't like how narrow it made the card.

I think this version is a lot more fair but still captures the idea very well.

There is a possibility that this doesn't work within the rules, might cause an infinite loop with the state-based action that causes you to sacrifice Sagas.

I wanted to design a card that would push all players to try and end the game as quickly as possible before the end is forced upon them.

I also wanted the effects to get worse the closer you are to the end. everything is getting worse all the time.

Note: I don't think this card would be printed with this formatting but It was the only way I could make it legible, the followup post with the card text will have what I think it would actually be printed with.

Hmm, thinking about how much would it would be to write a python application that will create my #customMTG card images for me using some templates. I love the design process, but I hate going though MTG CardSmith to put together the images, the text looks, not great and is tedious to format and keep it legible.

But do I want to do that much work to support a small side hobby? And I probably still won’t get them looking much better, if at all.
