when nomadic tribes moved from place to place, it was the most vulnerable and weakest (due to, for example, infancy or old age) who set the pace for movement, not the strongest and most able; the fitness of the most able thus went to supporting those less so, not dominating them. The most socially vulnerable only “dominated” in the sense that they set the benchmark for the priorities of the group.
