we still don't know exactly what sunk the Mighty Fitz. we know that the ss anderson was hit by some abnormally huge waves around 7pm. there's a theory that a series of three huge waves (the three sisters) finally overwhelmed and sank the ship.
she rests in two pieces at the bottom of the lake. the wreck is considered a gravesite and exploration is severely restricted. all 29 men are still down there, resting in the frigid bosum of the lake.
