Not sure if I was naive but it surprised me quite a bit that even with currently hypothetical technology, humanity would be stuck in the Kuiper belt for the next thousand years, with targets like Proxima Centaury b being a half-generation projects. Of course, we don't know which advancements are yet to come, especially considering AI. But warp-drives or wormholes are almost unimaginable for Hard SF imo.
