Cyprus achieves record €372 million EIB Group financing in 2025, including new €125 million loan for public school modernisation

In 2025, the European Investment Bank Group achieved a historic level of activity in Cyprus, providing a total of €372 million in financing, of which €354 million were EIB loans and €18 million mobilised by the EIF. Overall, EIBG support represented 1.02% of Cyprus’s GDP corresponding to an estimated per capita investment of €839.

EIB Group financing in Portugal reached €3 billion in 2025, with record investments in housing, climate action, transport and innovation

The European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group), which comprises the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Investment Fund (EIF), boosted its investment in Portugal in 2025, reaching €3 billion, 43% increase vs. previous year. This figure is expected to unlock approximately €12 billion in investments, corresponding to almost 4% of the country’s GDP.

EIB Global invests more than €3 billion in Africa in 2025

The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group deployed more than €9 billion through EIB Global, its arm for international partnerships and development finance, in 2025. Of this figure, Africa received €3.1 billion – a third of the total volume. The key sectors were support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through credit lines, and investment in venture capital funds, sustainable energy, transport infrastructure, water and health.

Morocco: EIB Global signs record financing in 2025 in support of resilience and sustainable transition

In 2025, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed financing worth €740 million in Morocco via EIB Global, its arm for financing outside the European Union (EU) – the largest amount recorded since 2012. These operations, in close cooperation with the Moroccan authorities and the EU Delegation to Morocco, support structural investment in critical sectors for the country’s economic, social and climate resilience.
