I'm gonna let you in on a secret:

If you want to do narrowband SCPC listening, you can just use an RTL-SDR as the IF frequencies of LNBs are within it's ranges.

• You may need an E4000 tuner instead of an R820T2 if you aim for the high-band of SES's DBS band, but still.

The most complex part is the 13/18V & 22kHz power injector & DC-blocker, but the former can be done with those portable SAT finders or a cheap DVB-S reciver and the latter one is a common part...
