> Drug Prohibition has blocked drug control measures such as: 1. Effective partnering with law-abiding companies; 2. Standards for safer drugs, and 3. More successful shielding of minors from drug use and drug dealing. #DrugProhibition #ProhibitionBlunder #EndTheWarOnDrugs #LegalizeDrugs

"In references how in the past, major drug seizures would have a clear impact on consumption. That's no longer the case. According to the National Drug Intelligence Bureau, there was a 96% increase, in 2024, of the minimum annual consumption of methamphetamine compared to 2023."

Opium’s Orphans: The 200-Year History of the War on Drugs

Upending all we know about the war on drugs, a history of the anti-narcotics movement’s origins, evolution, and questionable effectiveness.
Opium’s Orphans is the first full history of drug prohibition and the “war on drugs.” A no-holds-barred but balanced account, it shows that drug suppression was born of historical accident, not rational design.

@Fitz also these issues are solely.based on the #WarOnDrugs and the bs. #DrugProhibition which twarts any efforts of #YouthProtection and #ConsumerProtection because unlike a licensed liquor store, dealers will sell to everyone paying...
America's #history of #DrugProhibition is quite a bit like the history of alcohol #prohibition, with a few differences. Both prohibitions increased use and abuse, created a robust illegal smuggling and distribution industry, killed scores of Americans, and increased the potency of available substances (the "iron law of prohibition"). One difference, the U.S. gave up on alcohol prohibition after 13 years, whereas prohibition of #cannabis, #cocaine, #opium, etc. continues. https://drugpolicy.org/issues/brief-history-drug-war
A History of the Drug War

Why are some drugs legal and other drugs illegal today? It's not based on any scientific assessment of the relative risks of these drugs – but it has everything to do with who is associated with these drugs.
