“My read of the situation right now: They’re looking for the lowest-hanging fruit with the least amount of regulations."

Yeah, what a bunch of fucks. With all the chatter about civil war breaking out over this that or the other thing, I tell you what, Wisconsin's got a shot at first peg on the map. The last thing a landowner wants to hear is some slick telling them how much their town stands to gain from a giant tumor sucking the life out of it while he stuffs his pockets with cash.

"'This is the Driftless area for Christ’s sakes,' said John Hawn, who retired to the area several years ago."

Right? WTF

In rural Wisconsin, a town rejects a plan to build a massive data center

Cassville residents and leaders are in the dark about who would build a $1B center or where it would go. They used zoning to block the plan.

75/100 #the100dayproject Three-quarters of the way through the project! I’m on holiday in Galena, IL, USA, an area that was not affected by glaciers in the last ice age. It’s the hilliest part of Illinois that is usually very flat (also due to the last ice age). This landscape is from one of the “scenic lookouts” driving into town.

#Panorama from #PikesPeak in #Iowa looking towards the mouth of the #Wisconsin river as it enters the Mighty #MississippiRiver in the foreground…

"Never covered by ice during the last #IceAge, the area lacks the characteristic glacial deposits known as drift. Its landscape is characterized by steep hills, forested ridges, deeply carved river valleys, and karst geology with spring-fed waterfalls and cold-water trout streams."

"The most impressive area is on the Mississippi, between Pikes Peak State Park, opposite the Wisconsin River down to #Guttenberg Iowa where bluffs lining the river reach their maximum height."

Driftless Area - Wikipedia

I'm in far northeast Iowa this weekend, near Harper's Ferry, IA. The Mississippi River flooding doesn't look bad to the uneducated eye, but you can see these small towns in WI, MN, and IA doing lots of work. Dump trucks full of sand and gravel are ever-present. #driftlessarea #flooding #spring
